Motocross Track To Close for Winter

The La Tierra MX/ATV Track will be closed for the remainder of the winter season, due to ice and snow on the motocross track. The track is located northwest of Santa Fe, off of Chile Line Trail and the 599 Relief Route.

The 55-acre ATV/MX park and track, also known as the Old Buckman Motocross track, was originally built in 1968.

Volunteers began rebuilding the track in 2008 with only shovels, which led to a fundraiser to purchase proper equipment in 2011.

SFCC Gets Notice Of Reaccreditation

Santa Fe Community College has received official notice of its reaccreditation from the Higher Learning Commission, a member of the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools.

The commission?s next accreditation evaluation will occur in 2019-20, according to SFCC.

SFCC President Ana ?Cha? Guzm?n said in a news release, ?The three-day team visit by the Higher Learning Commission this fall was an opportunity for all aspects of the college?s mission to undergo close scrutiny. I am pleased with the team?s report, which noted specific strengths as well as areas where we can improve in the future.?

Inn Names New General Manager

The Inn and Spa at Loretto, managed by Destination Hotels & Resorts, has named Sheri Decker as its new general manager.

Decker has more than 25 years of experience in the hospitality industry, including her 11-year post as general manager of the Rizzo Conference Center in Chapel Hill, N.C. She will begin her new job in Santa Fe on Jan. 28.

?Sheri is a seasoned manager, and we are extremely happy to welcome her into her new position,? said Dana Ortega, marketing director at The Inn and Spa at Loretto, in a news release.

Decker, a native Texan with fond memories of vacationing in Santa Fe, enjoys activities, including biking, hiking and exploring the area?s regional culinary scenes.
