THE Sunshine Coast music industry will roll out the red carpet for three of the world's most influential music industry workers who arrive to mentor local artists from 14 to 16 September.
Internationally renowned music industry professionals Jen Long from BBC, Adam Lewis who spearheads an artist development and promotions firm based out of Boston and LA and Lisa Hresko who is currently the Editor-in-Chief of weekly music-business trade magazine CMJ New Music Report and CMJ.com, will?visit the Coast.
It has been organise as part of ?Sunshine Coast Council's smartArts+ and AMPED programs in conjunction with the peak industry body Q Music and local organisations.
Community Programs Portfolio Councillor Jenny McKay said the initiative was a vital component of the Creative Industries Focus 2012 designed to produce commercial partnerships for local artists and creative industry workers.
"Through our smartArts+ and AMPED programs we are proud to deliver this once in a lifetime mentoring opportunity for our local artists," Cr McKay said.
"Our region is recognised internationally as being the home of many professional artists and successful music businesses and equally as a tourism destination of the highest quality.
"This initiative develops partnerships across tourism, creative and event businesses and not-for-profits, whilst positioning the Coast as a liveable and distinct destination that fosters a world class creative industry.
"We invite the region's creative industry workers and artists to get involved, showcase their talents and utilise this opportunity to gain global partnerships.
"Council supports the development of a vibrant and diverse creative industry and will continue to find opportunities to bring the world's most exciting creative workers to the region to enjoy our world class tourism activities."
smartArts+ is funded by Arts Queensland through the Regional Arts Development Fund.
The AMPED music program is a partnership between Sunshine Coast Council and Arts Queensland, which aims to build the capacity of local musicians and bands and broker showcasing and employment opportunities for the local music industry.?
