Area aviation firms plan Aug. 12 rally Albuquerque-area manufacturers Aspen Avionics, Bendix/King by Honeywell and Eclipse Aerospace plan to stage a 12:30 p.m. rally touting their industry?s contributions to the economy Aug. 12 at Cutter Aviation at the Sunport. Gov. Susana Martinez and U.S. Sen. Tom Udall, D-N.M., are scheduled to speak, as well as company representatives. The General Aviation Manufacturers Association has helped organize the rally in partnership with the local companies. Organizers said they expect hundreds of aviation enthusiasts to attend, including representatives from local aviation manufacturing companies, businesses that use general aviation to ensure their commercial success and members of the military. Space work focus of Chamber of Commerce meeting The Greater Albuquerque Chamber of Commerce?s 96th annual meeting on Oct. 16 will highlight Sandia National Laboratories? and Lockheed Martin?s work in space exploration as a contributor to economic development opportunity for New Mexico. The keynote speaker will be Rick Ambrose, executive vice president of Lockheed Martin?s Space Systems Company. The theme is the future of New Mexico as a leading world destination for space exploration and aerospace industry jobs.
